Noida International Airport Nears Completion, Inauguration Likely in November

Greater Noida is seeing a historic development as the Noida International Airport at Jewar moves closer to completion. Officials from Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL) revealed that nearly 90 percent of the construction is finished. The first phase of the project is expected to be fully ready by October 25.

Critical finishing work and deep cleaning are currently happening across the large site. Areas like the forecourt, check-in area, security hold, and boarding gates are scheduled for completion by October 20. Authorities confirmed that both arrival and departure halls are already done, ahead of schedule.

Key passenger facilities such as boarding bridges are on track to be completed by the end of September. Other important infrastructure, like the fire station, airline offices, ATC tower, cargo terminal, and runway, are already complete. Officials said car parking facilities and approach roads will also be ready by October 25, ensuring smooth passenger flow.

The Yamuna Authority CEO stated that once construction is finished, time will be requested from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for a formal opening. The event is likely to be in November. After the ceremony, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will conduct inspections and issue aerodrome licenses before commercial flights start.

Planned in four phases, the Noida International Airport is expected to become one of the largest airports in northern India. The first phase is estimated to cost Rs 10,056 crore. With a runway and terminal building, this phase will handle up to 12 million passengers each year. Future phases will significantly expand capacity, reinforcing the airport’s strategic importance.

Industry leaders believe this project will change regional air travel and cargo movement. Connectivity across Delhi NCR, western Uttar Pradesh, and key industrial corridors will improve greatly. Aviation experts note that Jewar Airport will lessen the strain on Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, which is nearing saturation.

Stakeholders also point out significant economic benefits. The airport is set to bring in investments, improve logistics networks, and strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s industrial base. It is strategically located near new industrial centers along the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and the Dedicated Freight Corridor. Improved passenger and cargo handling will promote growth in real estate, tourism, manufacturing, and exports.

Once operational, Jewar Airport is set to play a key role in India’s aviation infrastructure. Residents and industries in NCR, who have long awaited this facility, see the upcoming inauguration as a significant milestone.
